Hi Zonzers! This Saturday we are heading to the upper Val di Non for a classic and scenic hike to Lake Tret (also known as Felixer Weiher). The trail is an easy forest path that leads to a beautiful alpine lake, currently surrounded by a winter atmosphere but with a very pleasant spring-like sun.

The Plan:

Meeting Time: 09:30 AM

Meeting Point: "Plaze" Parking lot (Tret, Val di Non)

09:40 AM: Start of the hike from Plaze di Tret (following trail n. 512).

11:00 AM approx: Arrival at Lake Tret (1,604 m). We’ll take some time to enjoy the frozen lake view and the scenery.

12:00 PM approx: Short walk to the nearby Malga San Felice (Felixeralm) for a traditional South Tyrolean lunch (dumplings, kaiserschmarrn, and more!).

02:00 PM - 02:30 PM: Start of the descent.

03:30 PM approx: Arrival back at the cars.

Distance: approx. 7 km (round trip)

Elevation Gain: +350 m

Difficulty: Easy/Moderate (suitable for anyone with basic hiking experience).

Walking Time: approx. 2.5 hours total.

Weather & Clothing Advice
The forecast for Saturday is sunny and stable. Thanks to a high-pressure system, temperatures will be mild for February (around 8°C-11°C during the day).

Shoes: Waterproof hiking boots are mandatory.

Clothing: Dress in layers ("onion style"). A thermal base layer, a fleece, and a windbreaker will be perfect. Don't forget sunglasses and sunscreen!

Gear: Snowshoes are NOT needed as the trail is well-packed. Micro-spikes (ramponcini) are optional but recommended just in case we find some icy spots in the shaded areas.

Lunch: I will book a table at Malga San Felice. Please confirm your attendance by Thursday evening so I can finalize the reservation.
